Corporate Safety Director

Job Summary: Responsible for promoting, leading and reinforcing safety as an integral part of the organizational culture by providing leadership, strategies and subject matter expertise. Responsible for the J. F. Shea Construction Safety Department performance nationwide. Reports To: Executive Vice President Indirect Reports: Division Safety Managers Project Safety Managers Shift Safety Managers Essential Functions: Provides guidance for safety policies and programs by creating written safety policies and rules for groups within J. F. Shea Construction.  Provides guidance and expertise in subject matter for compliance with federal and state safety regulations to reduce accidents and workplace injuries as well as compliance with all regulatory requirements of OSHA, Cal OSHA, MSHA, DOT, EPA, NFPA 70E, and any other applicable agencies. Recommend policies, goals and objectives for the company's safety program. Provides training in safe working practices, safety regulations, field standards and conduct, and safe and productive equipment operations. Coordinates with company insurers, brokers, and outside counsel on worker's compensation issues, liabilityclaims, and accident investigations. Supports managers to promote participation and consistency in safety programs. Visits job sites on a regular basis to perform safety audits and provide guidance for needed follow-up items, providing materials, and/or establishing corrective action plans. Works closely with the Executive Management team, Business Unit Leaders and Safety personnel or continuous improvement in executing safety programs, policies and plans. Interviews Superintendents and other field level supervision to assess safety program effectiveness. Prepares and presents monthly leading and lagging indicator performance with recommendations for continuous improvement. Reviews education training plans, safety topics, and training. Provides leadership and support for highly effective incident and near hit investigation, determining and sharing lessons learned throughout the entire organization. Reviews all Incidents investigations and root cause analysis to suggest corrective actions to management team. Ensures highly effective Workers' Compensation, General Liability, and Auto claims management, through partnering with our insurance claimsadjusters to achieve prompt claim closure and successful outcomes. Provides expertise on "Return to Work" program for injured employees. Measures and evaluates effectiveness of safety program on a regular schedule. Assists Project Safety personnel in developing and delivering site specific safety plans (HASP or IIPP) as required for new projects. Establishes and maintains workplace safety records including all OSHA required documentation and logs. Recruits, interviews, and evaluates potential new personnel for the safety team. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.     Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to effectively influence staff to retain ownership and accountability for safety, training, compliance initiatives. Proficiency with MS Office programs including Work, Excel and Outlook preferred. Proficiency in OSHA, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and DOT regulations required. Valid driver license with acceptable driving record in accordance with Shea policy. Ability to travel extensively and stay overnight for safety audits of projects nationwide. Education and Experience: At least five (5) years of construction safety management experience. Experience in heavy civil construction strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Safety Management. Construction Health and Safety Professional (CHST) certification or ability to obtain within six months of start date required. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred. OSHA 500, MSHA Blue Trainer's Card preferred. Work Environment/Physical Demands: General office environment. Travel to jobsites nationwide required. Working outdoors in inclement climate. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
